DC Days 3, 4, 5
I get asked two questions almost everyday "How is married life?" or "How was your honeymoon?" With the second question the followup is usually an awkward look of someone asking why in the world would you go to DC on a honeymoon. And then I point out the obvious, I am as pale as pale can get and don't tan really so the likelihood of me sitting at the beach all day with a drink in my hand is slim to none. Plus we can do that where we live!
So on to part 2 of our honeymoon!
Saturday we went to Georgetown, ate lunch at El Centro, which was recommended to me by a friend, and it was great! Georgetown is the cutest area, we went back multiple times to eat, shop, and walk around. It seemed like the safest nicest area to live that I've seen.
We wanted to do the National Mall in the late afternoon/sunset, we walked from our hotel to the mall and it was the perfect time to visit. The weather was so nice, we stayed around there until it was dark.
We visited Arlington on Sunday, which turned out to be a great day to visit if you are thinking of going. They don't have funerals on Sunday and they have 30 or more every other day of the week, it was probably more crowded on the day we visited because of that. We paid for the shuttle, I don't know how we would have survived the heat and distance without the shuttle. You can get on and off at their designated stops and they are continually running. It was an amazing experience to walk through Arlington, watch the changing of soldiers, and actually appreciate it. I remember going when I was in school but never enjoyed it or understood it.

I asked for recommendations from a lot of people on places to eat, have drinks, visit etc and a lot of friends said to have drinks at the Trump. We went there Sunday night for drinks and then dinner at BLT PRIME.
Monday started with visiting the Dry Bar again and then doing our tour of the Capitol. We started at our congressman's office and walked through the tunnel under the road to go into the Capitol. Again, the amount of people allowed in these buildings for tours is so surprising (from a security standpoint). We did a tour with just us two but the large tour groups were overwhelming. We went into the room where the State of Union is held (no photos allowed or phones allowed). It looks like a much larger room when you see it on TV versus in person. They weren't in session so the room was empty but had they been in session we would have been able to watch.

Our next few days included The White House, Nationals Game, and more food! So, more to come on our DC Honeymoon! Stay tuned!
