The worst part of January is having to redecorate. And the flu. Every January my husband gets the flu...but I digress. From October through the end of the year your home is decorated for holidays then BAM January comes around and what do we decorate with, snowflakes? Ha..not. I'm such a fan of blue; ginger jars, blue hydrangeas, etc. so I feel like blue is an easy go to in January.

In the mean time my huge island consists of a marble lazy Susan that matches the countertops, and a champagne bucket with a ZZ plant in it. Simple and Easy, accompanied by a Capri Blue Volcano candle, because really who can resist those? If you are looking for an easy plant to keep in your house, I highly recommend a ZZ plant. They don't require a lot of light nor water but the more it gets the better it seems to do. (I'm not a horticulturist but that is my two cents on this specific plant). This one in the picture I've kept alive for about a year and a half now.

It looks like we are going to begin a few more projects in the house soon. Joy, more remodeling. With that going on, I think I want to re stain the kitchen island a darker color. The orange/red wood just doesn't match our floors nor the new marble countertops. I do like keeping the wood island and breaking up all of the hard surfaces. We did a wood countertop stained a dark gun metal gray colored in the laundry room and I am leaning toward that color or something similar. I also was told the stone in the living room (where my flu ridden husband is sitting) has brick behind the fake stone. HALLELUJAH! That is my hope and I'm going to delve into that soon!

I'm hoping to start sharing some of our completed remodel with you soon! If you are a photographer and want to help me out with some photos let me know!

XOXO
